February 23, (THEWILL) – The People of Jechira intermediate area, comprising Konshisha and Vandeikya Local Government Areas, have reaffirmed their solidarity and commitment to support their son, Governor Hyacinth Alia, to enable him continue to deliver democracy dividends to the state without distraction.

At a solidarity rally held on Saturday in Tse Agberagba, the headquarters of Konshisha Local Government, residents of Jechira, cutting across party lines, expressed their support for Alia. They commended his performance since his election and pledged to stand firmly behind him throughout his first term and potential second term in office.

The leader of the group, and chairman of Benue APC Elders’ Forum, Chief Barnabas Gemade, said all the Jechira people voluntarily came together to express their solidarity to the Governor in the major event at the state Assembly and other knotty problems that are making it difficult for him to have a smooth ride in rendering services to the state.

“You will recall that just two days ago, the assembly had to step into a matter lingering between the executive and the judiciary where several issues are under contention and the House of Assembly had to come in to do an oversight function”, he stated.

According to him, since there has been a lot of detractors who have gone to the press to say misleading things, Jechira people voluntarily decided to come together to dispel all the rumours being spread about what took place between the Assembly and the state Chief Judge.

“Parties like APC, PDP, Labour Party and every other party existing here in Jechira, their leaders are here to express our solidarity for the Governor, Rev Fr Hyacinth Alia, for the good work he is doing in the state and also commend the state Assembly for living up to expectation on doing its own work of sanitising the system.

“The message is that we had given our Governor the support to move in and perform like former governors Aper Aku did, like Adadu started to do, Alia should live in their footsteps and move forward”, Gemade added.

In a voice vote, they all agreed that no Jechira person should contest election with Alia until he completes his eight years tenure as governor of Benue State.

The former Chairman of APC in Konshisha local Government area, Alhaji Abubakar Nyongo, said Alia’s coming has brought a lot of relief to the people of the state, pointing out that many people have been in politics with nothing tangible to show for it, calling on all to support governor Alia to succeed.

The member representing Tiev State Constituency in the Benue State House of assembly, Hon Damkor Mathew, said Jechira as an intermediary, is one and is hundred percent behind their son, Governor Alia, and see no need for another Jechira person to contest in 2027.

Other speakers, including the Coordinator, Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Konshisha Local Government, Rev Vincent Guda, and former chairman of Konshisha local Government Council, Mrs Mwuese Ubebe, all declared support for Alia to succeed in leading the state to greater heights.
