February 16, (THEWILL) – The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has passed out 1,511 female officers who successfully completed an intensive tactical and operational training program at the 26 Police Mobile Squadron, Idoro Road, Uyo.

The three-month program, aimed at enhancing security operations across the state, focused on advanced tactical policing techniques, including combat drills, intelligence-driven operations, and crisis management.

Speaking at the passing-out ceremony, the State Commissioner of Police, Baba Azare, described the re-training as a strategic initiative designed to strengthen the security architecture of Akwa Ibom and Nigeria at large.

Azare explained that the officers underwent rigorous training in Advanced Drill, Debussing Under Fire, Stripping and Assembling of Arms, Tactical Combat Casualty Care, Tactical Formation, and Cordon and Defense Operations, among other critical skills.

“This training is not just a routine exercise; it is a deliberate and strategic initiative that underscores the evolution of the Nigeria Police Force under the visionary leadership of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun. The Force is undergoing remarkable transformation, with a focus on tactical, intelligence-driven, and result-oriented policing,” Azare stated.

He also highlighted the Inspector-General’s commitment to gender inclusion, noting that the newly trained female officers would play a crucial role in ensuring energy security across the country.

The commissioner paid tribute to the late CP Waheed Ayilara, under whose tenure the training initiative commenced, and also acknowledged the contributions of former Squadron Commander of the 26 PMF, ACP Baba Mala Mohammed, in conceptualizing and initiating the program.

Azare further commended Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, for his administration’s dedication to security, which he credited for making the state one of the safest in the country.

“This training is not just about physical endurance but also about mental agility, tactical precision, and strategic response to real-world security threats. These officers symbolize a new era of policing—dynamic, proactive, and uncompromising in ensuring safety and security,” he added.

Representing Governor Umo Eno at the event, the Special Adviser on Security Matters, DIG Adeyemi Ogunjemilusi (rtd.), congratulated the newly trained officers and urged them to remain professional and committed to their duties.

He also commended the Police Command for its efforts in maintaining law and order, assuring that the state government would continue to provide the necessary support to enhance security operations.

Azare reaffirmed the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to collaborating with sister security agencies in Akwa Ibom while also expressing appreciation to the press for their objective reporting and continued support.

He assured residents that the Police Force remains steadfast in its mission to ensure peace, security, and safety across the state and beyond.
