February 14, (THEWILL) – The Ogun State Community, Social Orientation, and Safety Corps, codenamed So-Safe Corps, has arrested four illegal immigrants from Cameroon and Chad for unlawful entry into the state.
In a statement issued in Abeokuta, the corps’ Public Relations Officer, AC Moruf Yusuf, disclosed that the suspects were apprehended based on intelligence received by the operation team.
The arrested individuals were identified as 23-year-old Cameroonian and group leader, Dorooumouna Brosia; Hassan Bukhari, also from Cameroon; Saleh Sinine Sakhair, a 27-year-old Chadian; and Mahamat Moudaina, a 23-year-old Chadian and brother to Saleh.
Yusuf explained that the corps acted on a tip-off regarding the presence of the foreigners, who had boarded a taxi heading to Lafenwa, Abeokuta.
Acting swiftly, operatives tracked the vehicle and arrested the suspects before they could disembark.
Preliminary investigations revealed that two of the Cameroonians had been in Ibadan for over four months, awaiting their counterparts from Chad.
Upon arrival, they traveled to Lafenwa to meet a Chadian identified as Hassan Seid, who resides in Ibadan but works in Abeokuta.
The suspects claimed they came to the area to work and improve their English proficiency while engaging in business activities.
The Corps Commander, Soji Gonzallo, raised concerns over the security implications of illegal migration, warning that undocumented foreigners could pose risks to national security, public safety, and health.
He confirmed that the arrested immigrants had been handed over to the Ogun State Command of the Nigeria Immigration Service for further investigation and possible repatriation.
