Neytiri is an expert warrior, strong healer and now fulfills a new role as mother. Long before her maternal responsibilities and relationship with Jake Sully, Neytiri crafted her skills within the forest as an incredible hunter and tracker under her father and olo’eytkan (head of the clan), Eytukan.

Neytiri’s mother, Mo’at is the matriarch and tsahìk (or shaman) of the Omatikaya people. In her youth, Neytiri had little interest in her mother’s responsibilities. As second-born, the responsibility to become tsahìk in training or tsakarem fell upon Neytiri’s older sister, Sylwanin. However, after the tragedy of Sylwanin’s death at the hands of the RDA, Neytiri was forced to assume her deceased sister’s duties including her impending betrothal to the olo’eytakan in training, Tsu’tey.

With an increased anger at the humans or “Sky People” following her sister’s death, Neytiri was poised to land a fatal blow on an Avatar who was encroaching upon her home. However, after a sign from Ewya, Neytiri showed mercy and spared this RDA soldier’s life. Neytiri brought this soldier — named Jake Sully — back to her clan. After a tense exchange between Jake and her father, Mo’at entrusted Neytiri with teaching Jake the ways of the Na’vi as a means to learn more about humanity.

Neytiri saw him as a skxawng or moron. Jake’s stubborn persistence, perseverance and eagerness to learn eventually won Neytiri over. As Neytiri’s lessons on the Na’vi language, culture and interconnectivity between their clan and the life on Pandora became more advanced, she saw that he is ready for the next step — flight.

As Jake and Neytiri’s relationship grew so did Jake’s with Pandora. Following the destruction of her people’s Hometree, Jake and Neytiri were joined by 15 clans of Na’vi, some key allies within Jake’s AVTR program and Ewya herself to successfully defeat the RDA during the Battle of the Hallelujah Mountains. Outside of a few human friends including Dr. Norm Spellman and Dr. Max Patel, 90% of the RDA are forced to return to Earth.

In the fifteen years since the Battle of the Hallelujah Mountains, Neytiri has betrothed Jake —now living as a full Na’vi — and taken on new responsibilities. Outside of helping lead the Omatikaya people as tsakarem under Mo’at, Neytiri and Jake have begun to raise a family of their own. They are parents now of two boys born in the years immediately following the Battle, an adopted daughter of similar age, and a younger daughter, and their lives have transformed.

As it becomes clear to Neytiri and Jake that the RDA have returned, she will do what she must to protect her clan, her home and her family.
