Eyethorns are plants found in temperate regions. It sustains itself through photosynthesis, feeding by opening the leaves across its body to catch sunlight. However, in doing so it becomes defenseless, and unveils the seeds which grow at the top of its vine. When not feeding, the leaves close, their spikes pointing out to deter predators.

Eyethorns have photoreceptors on their bodies that can detect the presence of nearby organisms. Should an animal get close, the planimal sways its body in a violent jutting motion. This defense mechanism frightens predators away, and in some more extreme cases, strikes them with the Eyethorn’s spikes. However, the Eyethorn is particularly sensitive to contaminants, taking on a pale, sickly appearance.
