Sunflower Gigantus are large plants composed of tightly coiled elastic stems which buildup a great deal of potential energy as they grow.

The plants are nutrient rich and much coveted by wildlife across the Western Frontier. To prevent them from being consumed or trampled, the planimal will release the energy stored in its stems and propel anything that steps on it a great distance into the air. The impact of this launch can cause minor harm to smaller creatures, but predominantly frightens them away and encourages them to avoid further encounters with Sunflower Gigantus. Once “triggered” the rudimentary nervous system of the plant quickly snaps its elastic coils back to their original shape.
