These foul-tempered, nocturnal predators feed on small animals and fruit, though swarms will attack large animals, such as hexapedes. Stingbats have a highly developed visual naviagation system. Yet despite this organic "intelligence," it has a small brain and is a common prey for banshees. The stingbat has four eyes and bioluminescence on its body and the edges of its wings. The Na’vi sometimes make pets of stingbats—despite their long, potentially lethal tail spines. They train stingbats to come to call and perch on their shoulders or eat fruit from their hands.
